The two minutes of Jason and Kyra talking about Jason s favorite book in Break It Up are better than this entire book In fairness those are really really good minutes I loved them so much But this book is such an incomplete story and there s no real resolution and I wanted one I did like knowing the Emmy and Golden Globes bit but that wasn t the resolution to the story instead the book ended with of that weird celebrity coexistence stuff that Chloe feels above Or separate from It s confusing and indefinite and I wanted that wasn t cliche and expected You can predict every argument they have and because it s expected it isn t all that convincing Or interesting Heart of Ash Blood and Salt #2 predict every argument they have and because it s expected it isn t all that convincing Or interesting

Source I received a digital copy of this book on a read to review basis Thanks to Emily Mah TippettsThis is book 2 in the Someone Else s Fairytale series and kicks of 6 months after the end of book 1 Warning some unavoidable spoilers for book 1It s six months since Chloe and Jason tied the knot and now Chloe has to deal with the pressures of having a movie star for a husband especially one who the media constantly report is having an affairChloe is starting her new job in the crime labs which she has wanted to do since her own ordeal as a child even though she now doesn t need the moneyCan Chloe and Jason make their marriage work whilst the media keep intruding on their lives Is there any truth to the speculation that Jason is having an affair And how will the media spotlight affect Chloe s own careerI always find it interesting to read a book which comes after the happily ever after So many books end with a fairy tale wedding and then you never know what happens next and as much as you want to believe that they do have a happily ever after you know that that s really not realistic So when there s a seuel to one of these books it tends to be an interesting readChloe and Jason didn t have the most average of courtships and you just know that they re not going to have the most average of marriages either especially not with Jason being off all over the place filming movies and doing interviews and stuff I liked the fact that Chloe hadn t abandoned her own dreams though which might have been expected of her given her husband s career Chloe s stubborn streak continues in this book though and she has set her sights on doing what she wanted to do become a crime scene investigatorOne of the major things that Chloe has to deal with in this book though is the allegations of Jason s infidelity Chloe seemed to be fairly trusting of Jason in the first book so much so that when she caught him with his co star in his room she believed him when he said that nothing was going on but with the constant insinuations and newspaper articles you can understand when her unwavering belief in him was swayed slightlyI liked how the storyline in this second book was focused less on romance and on the hard work that a relationship takes and Chloe s own career The mystery aspect of the storyline was well done and although this aspect of the story didn t have uite such a happy ending the author managed to spin the overall ending to be positive which was uite a feat in itselfIn my opinion this shift from romance novel to something with a little bite was well done and sat well with the first book too It will be interesting to see where Chloe s new job takes her next and how that continues to affect Chloe and Jason s relationshipOverall a change when compared to the original story but a great mysteryreal life romance read7 out of 10 Eight Second Cowboy polizeilichen Untersuchungen schlagen um herauszufinden ob sie ihre Karriereziele und die Herausforderungen ihrer Promi Ehe balancieren können Es scheint alles dagegen zu sprech. Okay wow This was better than the first and that s saying something I had trepidation approaching this one because I really liked Chloe and Jason and I didn t want senseless retrograde relationship nonsense just to build a story I mean book 2 of a romance series with the same couple means something has to happen rightAnd truthfully the book does have some problematic relationship wobbles and I didn t really appreciate it And yes I have to admit that it s very much within Chloe s character to have doubts and insecurities and in Jason s to have his internal guiltpride thing going on So there s nothing out of character so it s all very realistic and doesn t contradict anything in the other bookAnd all that sounds very dire but I ended up loving how Tippetts made it all work Not only was she not unreasonable but she ends up showing how couples rely on the strength of their relationship to navigate difficult emotional waters So the book ends up with a background theme of trust love and working towards one another in a relationship when other factors are working against you So while I didn t appreciate it to start I ended up appreciating a strong message well deliveredBut what really knocked this book out of the park for me was an inserted story that I found at first rather annoying There are bits from a show of some kind interspersed throughout the novel usually at the beginning of a chapter but sometimes in the middle or end and it s a bit annoying that you lack context for it I finally figured out what was happening just before the middle of the book and it became explicit a bit later and it became the vehicle for layering an extremely powerful emotional impact that put me literally in tears in a good way of course This was very embarrassing in the middle of the work lunchroom let me tell you but at least nobody else was present I d gladly take emasculation than that however for that delivery of hope in despair and dedication in the face of failure What could have been a pedestrian treatise in simple luck and fortune became gloriously richer with layers of purpose effort gratitude and finding value in unexpected but enriching placespeoplecircumstancesThat emotional impact was worth slogging through a slow story with uninteresting characters Being set in a beautiful story with marvelous characters and excellent pacing made this a stand out read that I wholeheartedly recommend My only hesitation is that you appreciate the story so much following the first book and this book isn t really a romance whereas that one most certainly is In other words if you re only into this type of thing for the romance then you won t find what you re looking for here What you ll find is I think better but that s only true for my own particular tastesA note about Steamy Like the first there is no steam in this novel Unlike the first the main characters are clearly having sex Tippetts manages just fine without showing details and the reader is in no doubt as to the extent or emotional content of their relationship Y hasta lo último de la tierra Una historia ilustrada del Cristianismo problematic relationship wobbles and I didn t really appreciate it And yes
